Teachers Deserve Better: NNPP Chieftain Ajadi, Calls for Better Teacher Welfare
As the world celebrates World Teachers’ Day on October 5, 2025, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has used the occasion to urge governments to prioritize teachers’ welfare.
Ambassador Ajadi, a South West Chieftain of the party, has called on both the Federal and State governments to improve the living conditions of teachers across the country.
In a statement released on Sunday, Ajadi emphasized the crucial role teachers play in shaping the lives of children and preparing them for adulthood.
He noted that teachers are the first point of contact for children outside their parents and deserve to be celebrated and adequately rewarded for their work.
Ajadi dismissed the notion that teachers’ rewards are solely in the afterlife, saying, “Government should make teaching an enviable profession by paying teachers adequately and improving both their living and working conditions.”
He urged governments to motivate teachers and ensure they are well taken care of.
The NNPP chieftain’s call highlights the ongoing challenges faced by teachers in Nigeria, including poor working conditions and inadequate compensation.
As the country celebrates World Teachers’ Day, Ajadi’s statement serves as a reminder of the need for governments to prioritize the welfare of teachers and the education sector as a whole.
